The new generation of coal roadheader developed in China has the following technical characteristics:
1) The overall structure is compact and the design is reasonable;
2) Short body, low center of gravity, and good working stability;
3) Large production capacity, strong rock breaking ability, and good adaptability;
4) The hydraulic motor is used to directly drive the loading mechanism, which has a simple structure, stable work, high reliability, and reduced maintenance;
5) The trackless walking mechanism and the butter cylinder tensioning device of the track guide wheel are adopted to improve the reliability of the track walking mechanism;
6) The hydraulic system is simple and reliable, and an automatic refueling device is added to improve the reliability of the hydraulic system;
7) The electrical system adopts PLC control, with industrial and mining detection and fault diagnosis functions.
In recent years, domestic roadheaders have achieved good results in coal roadway driving. The actual annual footage can reach 6000 to 8 000m, which basically meets the needs of high efficiency roadway driving. Cantilever roadheader has been widely used in China's key coal mines and has played an important role. However, due to the single-lane tunneling and the use of a single anchor for bolt support, the tunneling and support cannot be operated in parallel, which affects the further improvement of the tunneling speed.
